SLO Weekends

Our first few weekends in October, we are spending in San Luis. This past weekend we headed up to Atascedero to celebrate with an old classmate of Quincy's, Leslie Pink, as she married Chris Morgan on October 3rd. It was a great wedding, with lots of fall colors and pumpkins. The bride looked so beautiful and the barn setting was perfect.

The first picture is of Quincy, Tana (a gal who works in the Construction Management dept at Cal Poly) and the beautiful bride. The second photo is of us dancing... Quincy and I were "twisting" (I think) ... the third photo photo is of the fall centerpieces... Did I mention they had pumpkin martini's??? And lastly, Barb Jackson and Quincy dancing... she is the reason Quincy stayed at Cal Poly and extra year and minor in Construction Management...

Sunday morning, we were able to catch up with another one of Quincy's friends, Eric Wehe. We toured Cal Poly to see all the new buildings and changes, walked down Higuera and window shopped, took a mini-hike in Avila Beach to the bluffs, sat on the balcony at The Cliffs in Shell Beach to enjoy the ocean view, stopped in Pismo for some clam chowder and salt water taffy, then headed home to sit in traffic.

Our second consecutive weekend in SLO...

On Saturday, Quincy was involved in a Visionary Event at Cal Poly, put together by the Director of the CM dept, Barb Jackson. He, along with 9 other people part of generation y, spoke about issues they currently are facing or have faced coming out of college (with degrees in Construction Management, Architecture, etc.) heading into the workforce. It was a 10 hour conference that included managers, directors and upper level executives in companies that are all in the industry. It was very enlightening and a great opportunity to share thoughts, ideas and network.

That evening, we had cocktails with everyone at Blue, then headed to Novo (at 9pm!) for dinner... At 1130p, when we were done with dinner, the guys all decided that it was time to re-live their college days and bar hop... After 10+ bars and Woodstock's horrible pizza, we finally made it back to our hotel room around 3am.

Sunday, we walked around SLO (A great place to boutique shop!) and visited with Leslie for a couple hours before heading out town... Another great weekend on the Central Coast!

I will not mention the agonizing hours spent at Firestone's on Friday night watching the Sox fall behind 0-2 (nor will I mention what happened on Sunday!) Let's just say that the 2009 baseball season is over- and we will see you next year!!!
